The Maker Hotel Wedding in Hudson NY for Mackenzie and Sam
A Stylish, Non-Traditional Wedding at The Maker Hotel in Hudson, NY
Is there anything better than a wedding at The Maker Hotel in Hudson, New York? After this day, I can confidently say: no. There’s actually not!
This Maker Hotel wedding was the perfect blend of style, personality, and doing things entirely your own way. That, in my opinion, always makes for the best weddings AND the best photos.
A few details you need to know about this day:
The bride wore a vintage wedding dress and it was the very first thing she purchased for the wedding and what set the tone for planning the entire event. It was an iconic move, I mean, look wait until you see the dress! The groom who is fondly known at work (where these two met) as “Hot Sam” now has that nickname permanently cemented in history after it was lovingly utilized during their vows.
Speaking of vows, the bride mentioned the patriarchy, which had me silently cheering from behind the camera. Equal parts heartfelt, funny, and powerful, exactly how wedding vows should feel!
True to the non-traditional spirit of the day, there was no sit-down dinner. Instead, guests mingled through cocktail hour and dinner with passed plates and drinks. The ceremony also stuck to this non-stiff vibe as most guests stood for the ceremony and also gathered around standing as toasts were shared. It was perfection!
As a Hudson, NY wedding photographer, I can confidently advise that more mingling + fewer rigid traditions = better energy and better photos every single time!.
This wedding at The Maker Hotel in Hudson NY was a reminder that when you throw out expectations and plan a day that actually reflects who you are, everything feels more connected, more joyful, and more real.
Cheers to these newlyweds. To doing things your own way. To standing up (literally and figuratively) for what matters. And to many, many happy years ahead!
